Blur vs OpenSea: Battle of the Marketplaces

Get your popcorn ready: the gloves are on, and NFT marketplaces are ready for a fight.

Blur is hitting the headlines again. The zero-fee marketplace, is going all out on its competitor, OpenSea, suggesting its users block the latter to get full royalties for their collections.

Blur really just woke up and chose violence, huh?

The feud began when OpenSea banned NFT marketplaces that offer optional royalties, like Blur, citing that such marketplaces are reducing the fees paid to creators. To enforce royalties on its platform, OpenSea launched a tool for on-chain enforcement of creator royalties, which meant that creators must use on-chain tools to ban the sale of their NFTs on royalty-optional marketplaces.

This move significantly affected Blur's standing, which prompted the marketplace to update its royalty policy. Under the new rules, creators on Blur can get full royalties if they block their collections on OpenSea.

The announcement drew strong reactions from NFT Twitter, with ThreadGuy stating that Blur had declared "marketplace WAR."

As the battle between OpenSea and Blur rages on, it remains unclear who will emerge victorious. One thing is for sure: NFTs are no laughing matter when it comes to profits.

535 DeGods NFTs Reborn on the Bitcoin Blockchain

DeGods fans take note: DeGods has made its way onto the Bitcoin network. 535 DeGods NFTs, which were originally burnt by the team last year to cap the supply, have now been inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain thanks to its Ordinals protocol.

The move has left many scratching their heads, wondering how these two vastly different blockchain networks can be compatible.

DeGods Founder, Frank, said that Bitcoin is the best brand in crypto, and that aligning themselves with the top crypto brand was a no-brainer.

The team had to work with Luxor Technologies CEO, Nick Hansen, to inscribe all 535 NFTs onto a single block.

The catch? They had to compress all the images to a low resolution of 210x210 pixels to make it work.

While the DeGods NFT collection is currently working on bridging to Ethereum, the 535 NFTs will only be available as Ordinals for now. The project's team is yet to announce the rollout details, but a recent Twitter update assured fans that they will announce the mint details in the coming days.

So keep those eyes peeled for updates!
