Yuga Labs Joins the Bitcoin NFT Trend with TwelveFold
Bitcoin NFTs are trending, and now Yuga Labs is bringing something to the table with TwelveFold! They're creating a limited-edition collection of only 300 generative art pieces inscribed on satoshis
If you're scratching your head wondering what that means, basically each art piece will be a digital artifact and a unique addition to any collection. Yuga Labs' art team used 3D modeling, algorithms, and high-quality rendering tools to create the pieces.
But, don't expect any other utility from these NFTs or any relation to Ethereum-based Yuga projects.
To get your hands on a TwelveFold NFT, you'll need to participate in the Bitcoin auction launching later this week. And to make sure you're ready to bid, Yuga Labs will give a 24-hour notice with all the auction details and exact timing.
But wait, there's more! Yuga Labs has strongly encouraged bidders to follow the best practices for holding inscriptions. So, make sure you have a self-custodial wallet with enough Bitcoin to place your bid, and an empty Bitcoin address to receive the piece if you win.
Get those bidding fingers ready folks.
TL;DR: TwelveFold is a unique and collectible Bitcoin collection that you should definitely keep an eye on. With Yuga Labs being the MVPs in Web3, it will be interesting to see how high these bids go.
Animoca Brands New NFT Licenses Defend Creator Royalties
While NFT marketplaces continue their war on creator royalties, Animoca Brands has emerged like a knight in shining armour for artists and creators with the introduction of three NFT licenses.
These licenses will require payment of creator royalties as a condition for receiving licenses to that NFTs art and utility.
As Bad Gal RiRi would say - BBHMM
Founder Yat Siu and Animoca Brands are shaking up the conversation around NFT royalties, which are payments made to the creators every time the token is sold or exchanged.
Without royalties, creators lack incentives to provide long-term sustainable benefits that support the commons.
So, the three licenses are as follows:
Personal use only license: This license only allows for personal use.
Permitted commercial use license: This license allows for commercial use up to a predetermined annual monetary limit.
Unlimited use license: This license allows for unlimited personal use and no monetary limit on commercial use.
Additionally, these NFT licenses are accessible to all under a creative commons license.
This move comes as no surprise - in the middle of 2022, Animoca Brands and CEO Yat Siu showed crucial support towards enforcing creator royalties. Yat Siu also wrote a long-winded Twitter thread explaining the core importance of royalties. According to Siu, royalties are a critical part of the web3 ethos, and not paying them is ‘free-riding’.
In other words, pay the creators, or you're just a free rider on the NFT bus.
