Could NFTs make a comeback in 2023?

People were going crazy for NFTs earlier this year, with the market reaching an all-time high of $8.4 billion in sales in Q2. But then things started to cool off a bit, with Q3 sales dropping to $3.4 billion and December sales plummeting a whopping 80% compared to the same month last year. Ouch.

But that’s not the end of the story apparently. Those of you claiming 'NFTs are dead' may have to hold their tongues. It looks like there might be a glimmer of hope for the market!

According to Google trends data, searches for "NFT" saw a spike in the second half of December. It's possible that people were just getting into the holiday spirit and looking for unique gifts, but it could also be a sign that NFTs are making a comeback.

Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure: 2023 will be a crucial year for the NFT industry. And we're looking forward to it.

DeGods & Y00ts Leave Solana Behind

If you haven't heard of DeGods and Y00ts, two of the most popular Solana NFT collections, you may have been living under a rock. Now, the collections have stated that they will move from Solana to Ethereum and Polygon, respectively.

The move is set to happen in Q1 of 2023, with both projects expected to release official roadmaps in January. Along with the NFTs, the ecosystem's utility token $DUST will leave Solana too!

But... why DeGods and Y00ts are leaving Solana? One Reddit user alleges that the collections asked the Solana Foundation for millions of dollars to stay on the blockchain and were denied. Further rumours claim Polygon paid Frank to move Y00ts there. Either way, the ecosystem's founder Frank DeGods released a statement in support of Solana, calling it "incredible" and stating that they "owe everything" to the people there.

As much as that flattery may be true, it's worth noting that Y00ts and DeGods are the top two NFT projects on Solana by the last 30-day trading volume. With Solana facing several network outages this year, it's not an ideal situation for a successful NFT ecosystem like DeGods. While this may be the best move for the most successful NFT collection on Solana...where does that leave Solana itself?
Without a poster boy, we guess!
