Early Santa gives a free MAYC NFT!

Someone got mixed up and confused Halloween with Christmas. Worse, Santa must have been so drunk because of all children, he picked one who has a reputation for being mean.

In other words, Alex -calling themselves ShiLLin_ViLLian- received a Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) from Machi Big Brother. For free. As a result of good deeds and community influence.

It turns out Machi may not even be Santa Claus, much less an angel. Some members from the NFT community suspect him of being involved in a few pull rugs and scams totalling 22,000ETH. That can't be how Santa buys presents for children, can it?

While some are happy for kiddo Alex, others express their concerns. The rare Mutant Ape given has a value of $50K. We’re not talking about a $20 remote-controlled car here. What if Santa’s Ape was originally bought with stolen money? Well, there’s a name for that. Alex owns stolen goods. I believe it to be enforced pretty much everywhere on the planet. Taiwan or New York. The Maldives or London.

However, if all of this is legit, young Alex will still need to report the gift on his taxes. In the US, the IRS generally isn’t involved unless a gift exceeds $16,000. Not sure the “gift from Santa” line will fly.

A newly formed alliance wants to democratize Web3 gaming

Up until now, Mythical Games was mostly known for their blockchain games Blankos Bloc Party or NFL Rivals. A year after raising $150 million and reaching unicorn status at a $1.25 billion valuation, the company has just announced their new ambition: democratizing and decentralizing web3 gaming. And let me tell you, they have phoned more than one friend.

A foundation, a DAO, and a token, all of them called Mythos, have just been launched by the company. Top-notch executives from the blockchain, gaming, and entertainment industries have joined the (bloc) party as advisors. Mythos’ ecosystem partners include Ubisoft, Krafton, FaZe, Sandbox Gaming, Yield Guild Games, Animoca Brands, Oasys, and many more.

The goal is to offer “a full-service web technology system powering the next generation of players, games and studios.” The foundation will oversee the DAO and aim at democratizing game economies and allowing gamers, publishers, and developers to participate in a decentralized game ecosystem. The foundation will also work on NFT standards. The token will be used in the governance of the DAO and will be implemented as the main currency of Mythical games.

For some people, it sounds a lot like Christmas! Again.
