Instagram wants to onboard 2 billion users in the NFT space

There isn't a single day without big brands or platforms jumping on the NFT bandwagon. Even though it is not a surprise, Instagram will soon become an NFT marketplace. Or try to become, I shall say.

The social media gave more details about how users will be able to mint and sell NFTs on Instagram using the Polygon blockchain.

Actually, they used the word "make" instead of "mint." Language is important when you try to onboard two billion people, right? Maybe they were scared of this:

Do you think I'm being anal? I checked, and here's what I found:

While Meta has used "make", Instagram has chosen "create."Still too complicated to understand NFTs?They call them digital collectibles.

Don't get the Polygon blockchain? No worries, they've announced that no cryptocurrencies will be involved and that users will pay with credit cards. WT* are creators' fees? You can skip and not pay them (or very little).Platform fees?No problemo! Instagram will temporarily waive its fees.

Wait... What's the catch, then? Here's a hint.

You got it! Apple will take its 30% commission when you sell an NFT. So will Android, by the way.

This looks a lot like centralization at the back of decentralization or web2 giants trying to get the largest piece of the web3 cake, all while arguing they make it simple for the mass. The battle has just begun.

Game of Thrones NFTs will arrive just in time for winter

How come the second show with the most Emmy wins (59) in TV history didn't have NFTs yet? Fortunately, HBO, Warner Bros., Nifty's marketplace, and Daz 3D (3D-content and software) announced "Game of Thrones: Build Your Realm," a digital collectible experience. Coming soon.

Game of Thrones is another Warner franchise coming to Web3, after "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" made its debut to the "movieverse" last week.

Avatars, thematic activities, on-site engagement, and additional digital collectibles will be available as assorted packs for fans to build their collection. Fans will be able to customize and strengthen their avatar by burning and forging equipables (weapons, companions, or gear).

So... How soon is "soon"? Since I have a degree in elements of language, I'll interpret the use of "winter is coming" in their communications as an indication for a December 21st minting date. Sorry. "Creation" date. Or "making" date.
