NFT Influencer Falls For Cancer Faking Art Thief

NFT influencers turned into donation beggars on social media yesterday. @3orovik asked for funds to buy an iPhone, while @Pauly0x created an ETH address named YouGetNothing.eth, collecting over 600 ETH in one day.

Crypto Twitter criticized the moves, questioning why they should donate to wealthy influencers.

NFT Twitter yesterday:

Seeing this, a scammer took advantage of the donation wave. NFT pioneer Andrew Wang shared a story about his β€œartist friend Sarah” battling cancer, urging donations through her Pixel Penguins collection.

However, it turned out that Sarah was an art thief, stealing from other artists.

The scammer had a history of deceiving others by feigning debt due to cancer treatments. What’s worse is that Wang defended Sarah but later admitted his mistake.

The NFT community's attempt to do something good ended in a scam, reminding everyone to be skeptical and verify before donating.

Something something road to hell, something something good intentions.

Moonbirds by Kevin Rose's PROOF COLLECTIVE went from being hailed as the next Bored Ape Yacht Club to becoming the most fudded project in Web3.

The collection was initially minted at 2.5 ETH per token, then the floor price went all the way up to 40 ETH, but now its floor price rests dramatically to 2.149 ETH, causing a wave of FUD in the NFT space.

Moonbird Holder POV:

Yesterday, Rose turned to address the FUD and held a Twitter space, but his attempts only fueled the fire.

He mentioned value distribution, long-term art appreciation, and avoiding hype games. However, his comparison to Bored Apes didn't sit well with the community, who pointed out stark contrasts between the perks Ape holders received, while Moonbird holders got socks and fanny packs.

A totally unrelated meme:

Moonbirds has a history of controversy, including shady token purchases by the COO, free tokens given to celebrities, and underwhelming releases.

The NFT community's frustration with Rose and Moonbirds is evident, reflected in the declining floor price and growing backlash. The future of Moonbirds remains uncertain, but stay tuned for updates on this rollercoaster ride!
