This sci-fi action RPG presents an expansive multiplayer universe with fast-paced mecha combat, Web3 integration, and a free-to-play approach aimed at introducing blockchain gaming to a wider audience.

Pirate Nation Raises Whopping $33 Million In Seed Funding!

Game studio Proof of Play, known for the blockchain-based game Pirate Nation, has secured $33 million in seed funding, co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Greenoaks Capital.

The studio, co-founded by CEO Amitt Mahajan, previously involved in FarmVille at Zynga, will use the funds to expand and advance its technology, enabling on-chain games that can exist indefinitely. Former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear has also joined Proof of Play's board.

• The studio aims to create "forever games" using blockchain, inspired by FarmVille's closure in 2020.

Pirate Nation, initially on Polygon, has moved to Ethereum scaling network Arbitrum Nova for lower fees and now offers free-to-play access alongside NFT benefits.

Proof of Play plans to open-source its technology to enable other creators to build on-chain games.
