Former Fugees member Pras Michel, convicted for his role in a multi-million dollar fraud scheme, is seeking a new trial. His lawyer allegedly used an experimental AI from EyeLevel AI to generate closing arguments.

The AI supposedly made "frivolous arguments" and "failed to highlight key weaknesses" in the prosecution's case. Pras was found guilty on 10 counts including falsifying records and being an unregistered foreign agent.

EyeLevel denies the AI made errors, saying it was trained only on court transcripts, not the internet, to avoid hallucinations. The case highlights concerns about AI in legal proceedings, though providers aim to reduce inaccuracies.
