Bots Spend $250,000 on Fake NFTs!

It's the battle of the bots, and this time, humans win.

From AI to robots, our timeline is currently starting to resemble something out of a sci-fi movie. However, when bots tried to infiltrate one of the latest hot NFT projects 'Mad Lads', their technical prowess proved worthless against the scheming of some cunning human beings.

So what went down? Well, to put it simply, the high-profile mint of Mad Lads was targeted by users wielding bots. It's a tale as old as time - bots flood the mint program with requests to purchase an extensive amount of assets, making it impossible for genuine collectors to get their hands on an NFT.

These kinds of attacks not only stop real fans from buying in to a community, but can also cause other problems, like we have seen in the past with the take down of the Solana network.

So, on Thursday, public mint began, and Mad Lads mint received billions of requests. They pushed the mint by 24 hours and thought up a plan to protect themselves against the bots.

Come Friday, mint was reopened and a new flood of requests went through. But this time, there was a trick in place. There were two links - a legit link for minting a real NFT, and a fake link that you could only find by reverse-engineering the code. This is known as the 'honeypot' - an isolated distraction to trick botters.And it worked! the fake contract soaked up over $250,000 worth of SOL.

Though it would have been tempting to keep that cool quarter-mil, Mad Lads processed refunds on all fake NFTs hours after the mint closed.

Yuga Labs Disappoints Holders by Delaying NFT Reveal

It's sad news for those eagerly awaiting a Yuga Labs reveal. The team has pushed back the highly-anticipated 'Evo 1' reveal date with a simple tweet.

We don't know what caused the issues or why reveal has been pushed back, but we do know the updated date now reads 'May'.

This means that the entire roadmap could also be pushed back , as the Web3 game is due to launch in June.

The community had mixed reactions - while some reacted with anger, saying 'Stop putting a deadline you never hold, guys', others were a little more light hearted, saying 'Did you try up, up, down, down, let, right, left, right, B, A, Start?'
