Yuga Labs Accused of IP Theft - What Happened?

In a classic case of "monkey business," Yuga Labs, the creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), have been accused of stealing intellectual property.

Their wolf skull logo, which was featured in their Bored Ape Kennel Club collection, was allegedly stolen from Easy Drawing Tutorial, a company specializing in drawing tutorials for kids. The logo bears an uncanny resemblance to a wolf skull drawing posted by the tutorial company three months prior to the BAKC's release.

Twitter user Colombo brought the similarities to light, causing Yuga Labs to scramble to address the issue. Taking notice of the tweet, the drawingโ€™s original creator, Easy Drawing Tutorial responded:

โ€œThanks for bringing this up @Jdotcolombo. @yugalabs doesnโ€™t have a license to the wolf skull drawing. The intellectual property rights for the drawing belong to Easy Drawing Guides as itโ€™s our original drawing and protected by our Terms and Conditions.โ€

In a statement, co-founder Greg Solano said that the claims of IP theft were "news" to the team, but they were already working to change the logo and reach out to the freelancer who created it.

Solano also emphasized that the BAKC collection was meant to raise money for animal charities, and that he was proud of the $1 million it had raised.

The moral of the story? Do your research! And when it comes to intellectual property, it's best not to monkey around.

Blur Overtakes OpenSea and Gas Fees Soar

Now, back to everyone's favorite Soap Opera - Blur vs. Opensea. Blur, the newbie NFT marketplace, has surpassed OpenSea in daily NFT trading volume. And if that wasn't enough, it has also become the top "gas guzzler" on Ethereum, leaving UniSwap and Seaport in its wake.

Blur's neon orange logo must be blinding OpenSea's team as they try to figure out what just happened. The data analytics platform Nansen.ai reported that Blur had overtaken OpenSea in daily trading volume for the first time ever.

Blur's daily trade volume on Wednesday hit 6,602 ETH, while OpenSea trailed behind at 5,649 ETH. And to make matters worse, Blur's daily trading volume grew almost four times after it released its native token. The marketplace is now valued at $1 billion and continues to dominate the market with 20,428 ETH while OpenSea lags behind at 4,369 ETH.

Blur is popular for several reasons, including its no trading fees and attractive perks for its most active users. On top of that, it dropped its native token, BLUR, rewarding its users with token airdrops. This airdrop was a massive success, resulting in Blur's trading volumes soaring significantly.

OpenSea - wen token?

It's a NFT marketplace battle, and Blur seems to be making giant leaps. Can it maintain its top spot and topple OpenSea in all-time trading volume? Only time will tell.
